The authors were using flu as a "model" virus to study, not necessarily focusing on how to generate a better immune response specifically to flu. But, your points are well taken in that by determining ways to manipulate ASCs, vaccine designers will be able to add components to vaccines that can help facilitate longer-lasting immunity (= fewer booster shots! Yay!)Geoffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07472521875173404609noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-717602462727821401.post-67037169920390238562011-09-12T20:37:48.954-04:002011-09-12T20:37:48.954-04:00We are starting to learn about memory and the proc...We are starting to learn about memory and the processes of memory in the brain in Human Cognition class. Reading about how memory also plays a role at the cellular level is extremely interesting and something I was not at all aware of. I know very little about how the immune system works, so keep blogging!Claire Lipschutzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08238495978773835010noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-717602462727821401.post-21938797267254331512011-09-12T17:08:18.390-04:002011-09-12T17:08:18.390-04:00That's interesting that the spleen and lymph n...That's interesting that the spleen and lymph nodes are more conducive to the ASC's with BLyS and APRIL, maybe we just need a flu that lasts shorter than the ASC's ability to survive in the lungs and bone marrow!Jessica Carinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04576721865268174294noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-717602462727821401.post-7851258573436891262011-09-11T22:41:48.516-04:002011-09-11T22:41:48.516-04:00Did you learn about any other pathways that could ...Did you learn about any other pathways that could be responsible for how the flu is constantly mutating?zan elsahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06508112444424429074noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-717602462727821401.post-67608767077775222192011-09-11T22:36:02.962-04:002011-09-11T22:36:02.962-04:00Wow! I never studied biology in college but this model for a way to vaccinate someone by taking advantage of the body's ability to remember a pathogen it was exposed to is fascinating. I hope they are able to eventually create a vaccine!Taylor Staffordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16962191581287706329noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-717602462727821401.post-55620258435425622932011-09-06T23:13:34.553-04:002011-09-06T23:13:34.553-04:00Thanks for the post, Addie.
