It was interesting to learn about an integral part of our bodies’ defense against infection and to become better versed in the parts and functions of the immune system. Thanks for putting everything into such tangible language.benhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14296735626771197364noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-717602462727821401.post-40578510369970777102011-10-20T22:06:04.322-04:002011-10-20T22:06:04.322-04:00Most of the material I read in the news about scie...Most of the material I read in the news about science discoveries only covers what is related to major diseases in terms of new treatments, etc. so it was cool to read this post about something that goes on inside all of our bodies all the time and to gain a better understanding of how we fight infections and disease.michelethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17294192069002901538noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-717602462727821401.post-921575190743532452011-10-20T20:51:05.315-04:002011-10-20T20:51:05.315-04:00It’s really amazing how much there is to know abou...It’s really amazing how much there is to know about the immune system. I’ve taken classes where I learned aspects of the different cells that are involved in immune responses but I’ve never heard of the complement system. Where do the different complement proteins come from? Are they produced by leukocytes or other types of cells? That’s surprising that proteins seemingly the same/similar in structure and function have such different roles and act through separate mechanisms. I’m still pretty bummed that I don’t feel very well, but after reading this, I am definitely thankful that I have an intact immune system and hoping that the C3 molecules are coating all the bacteria effectively!Andreahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00710310683956881177noreply@blogger.com
